Maundy Thursday Washing of Feet, Eucharist, and Lunch

Event Details

  • Date:
  • Venue: Undercroft

In addition to divesting the altar in the evening, we celebrate Maundy Thursday at noon by remembering Jesus’ last supper with his friends, when he washed their feet as an example of the servanthood he called them to live out. It has been our tradition to wash our neighbors’ feet and to give each person a new pair of socks and shoes. Please help us collect enough socks by bringing some to the church and placing them in the baskets in the Narthex. If you wish to make a monetary donation to the fund that will buy the shoes, please make your check out to St. Luke’s Medical Ministry and mark it “Shoes.”
Our neighbors will appreciate your help. Many of them ask from time to time all year round when we will be having the foot washing. We will have lunch after the service, and we’d love to have you help serve. Please come celebrate with the churches of the Shreveport Convocation and our neighbors. This is one of our most memorable and moving times, and a precious tradition
